We have just arrived back in England after a fantastic three and a half week trip to South Africa, visiting family and friends. We spent the first two weeks in Cape Town, followed by four days at a Game Reserve in the Waterburg and finished off with a long weekend in Joburg.
Cape TownOur first week in Cape Town was quite cold and windy. We drove to Hermanus with Andrew an Tania to see the Whales but they seemed to be taking a day off! However, a few days later in Simons Town we were lucky enough to see Whales playing and breaching, just off the beach. We spent time with Colin's family as well as our great friends Barbara and Jayson, including several dinners, kite flying and even a 6km walk up a mountain. A good hang over cure!
The weather started to warm up in the second week and we enjoyed travelling around the Cape which allowed Colin plenty of time to practice his photography.

Game ReserveWe spent 4 days at Lindani Game Reserve in the Waterburg (about 3hrs north of Joburg). We booked a self catering lodge, which slept 12 people! We took Colin's Dad with us and had a fantastic week, full of fun. Although the reserve didn't have the Big 5 it was still amazing. We saw plenty of antelope, giraffe, zebra and lots of birds. We also visited a local Rhino Museum and hand fed a four year old black Rhino!! The weather was excellent and we got up early every morning to enjoy a drive through the reserve as well as going out in the afternoon, just before sunset. We can't wait to go back next year! On our way back to Joburg we stopped in Vaalwater and had breakfast with goo

d friends Harry & Peggy.
JoburgWe enjoyed a long weekend in Joburg before flying back to the UK. We managed to see lots of friends and family and had a great night out with Andrew and Tania aswell as a lovely Braii with
Andrew & Cheryl. On Sunday we enjoyed lunch with Graham and Aileen and finished off with a round of Pictionary!
We can't quite believe how quick the time went. Thanks to everyone for making it such a great trip!
