Antigua - Lots of Maintenance & Crew Changes!

We have just come to the end of another busy couple of weeks in Antigua and are now getting ready to head off down Island to St Lucia tomorrow to pick up our next charter on the 14th February.

We have had a lot of maintenance work done on the boat, especially around the bow but thankfully everything has fallen into place and we are ready on time! We also had the fridge system rebuilt so we finally have fridges which actually work!

There has also been a big change in the crew onboard as the Captain and First Mate have left. We now have a new Captain called Mark, who used to run Mirabella5. Kate has got the Mate's job and Alex, the Steward, has moved back outside to be Deckhand, so we have also got a new Stewardess, called Lydia. Everyone gets on really well so we should have some fun onboard!

Antigua has been very busy with a lot of the latest superyachts coming in and out. Maltese Falcon (below), the modern Square Rigger turns heads whenever she leaves as she often sails off the dock! There are not many boats which stop crew in their tracks to just watch a boat depart! At the moment both Maltese Falcon and Mirabella5 (the largest single masted sailing yacht in the world) are both docked in Antigua Yacht Club. Mirabella3 looks tiny here now! The picture below shows Mirabella5 anchored behind Mirabella3 with a Laser tied to M3's stern. A bit of a size difference!
Le Grand Bleu (below) was here last week. She is 370ft (114m) and has a 65ft sailing yacht onboard as well as a helicopter, 60ft power boat, plus all the watersports toys you could imagine!

We are due to leave Antigua on Sunday morning and it should take us about 20hrs to get down to Rodney Bay in St Lucia. We will spend Monday and Tuesday in Rodney Bay before moving to Soufriere Bay where we are due to pick up our six guests for a 10 day charter. We will be cruising around the Grenadines, with the charter ending in Grenada on the 23rd February.

As soon as the charter finshes we will be heading back up to St Maarten, with a short stop in Antigua on the way. We are due to meet up with the owners before picking up our last charter on the 3rd March, in St Maarten.
